Audrey Catheline Phillips (Lytle)

Peacefully, after a short illness, Audrey Phillips nee Lytle passed away on September 28, 2007.

Audrey was born on August 21, 1913 in Roland. In 1934, she married Hartley and they took up the homestead east of Roland. She was a farmer’s wife at heart, loved to sew, tend garden and quilt. Audrey was a member of the Roland Rebecca Lodge and a life member of the Roland Ladies Curling Club. She had a passion for knitting, quilting and needlepoint and displayed her handiwork at the local fairs. In 1977, Audrey and Hartley retired to Roland. After 25 years, Audrey moved to the Riverview Legion Lodge in Carman.

Audrey was predeceased by her husband Hartley in 1979, brothers Bert, Morley and Ted Lytle, sisters Isabelle Bannon, Mabel Lytle and Bessie Kendall, and daughter-in-law Peg Phillips. Left to cherish her memory are her two sons Blake and Doug (Barbara), three grandchildren Rick (Cindy), Cam (Cheryl), Kim (Mike) and four great-grandchildren, Cole, Cassidy, Ryan and Derek.

A private family service will be held. Family and friends are invited to a gathering to celebrate Audrey’s life at the Roland Memorial hall on Wednesday, October 3rd at 11:30 a.m. The family would like to thank the home-care workers and the staff of both the Boyne Lodge and Carman Hospital for their friendship and care for Audrey. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
