Our Proud History

Doyle's Funeral Home has been part of Carman and the surrounding community for over one hundred years. During that time the business, like the communities it serves, has undergone many changes.

Albert S. Doyle, originally a cabinet maker from Halifax, moved to Carman to establish a furniture business in 1887. Housed in the Gratton building, the business was expanded a year later to include a funeral home.

Albert's son Clarence took over the business in 1928 and operated it from the same location until he purchased the R.J. McConnell house and renovated it into a funeral home in 1945. His son Don would also help with the family business, taking over full time when Clarence passed away in 1952.

Ken Buchanan came to work at Doyle's Funeral Home in 1970 and purchased the operation in 1971.

Doyle's added a crematorium to its Carman location in 1988. It is the only crematorium operated in rural southern Manitoba. We do cremations for several funeral homes in Manitoba and in North Dakota. Having our own crematorium allows us to give better service to the families we serve. Our Morden chapel was built in 1997.
